 Hudson lands solid victory

Hudson lands solid victory

19/06/2008 4:00:00 AM
MEMBERS of the Wauchope Golf Club played a single stableford last Saturday.

Played in three grades, the day was sponsored by members of the Laurie family, who have been long term sponsors of the club.

Conditions were very unpleasant all day, with very windy south-westerly blasts making scoring difficult.

This was responsible for the standard of the scores across the entire field.

Only two players reached forty points, one in C grade; the other in B grade.

With easily the best score of the day, Neil Hudson won C grade after he cruised around the course and amassed 42 points, to win the grade by four points. In the process, he also left at least four points “on the course”. His handicap is now 21.5.

Runner-up, with 38 points, was Jim McCudden, third, John Warrener on a countback of 36 from Dave Terley. He counted out Gay Dennes.

Winner of B grade was Peter Kime. The 15-marker was the other player to reach 40 points, when he won by one point from runner-up, Chris Lockwood.

Third, on a countback of 38 points, was Geoff Hoskings from David Williams.

An impressive score of 39 points saw Alex Clark win A grade. The six-marker beat Brett Hopkinson, 38 points.

Third, with 37 points, was Tristan Brindley, fourth going to Jeff Rogers with 36. He counted our Gary Slattery and Pat Hutchby.

The ball comp saw balls go down to players with 33 points. Among these were sponsors “Lag”, “Rocky” and Mitch Laurie.

Nearest the pins were won by Andrew Farrar 80cms, Rob Williamson 98cms, Chris O’Brien 2.06 and Brad Maggs 2.15 in A grade.

B Grade balls went to Luke Stevens 78cms, Les Derby 1.24, Mick Cannon 2.87 and Mark Harvey 3.92.

Les Murray 4.2, Paul Hassab 1.25 and Phil Mann 3.09 won balls in C grade.

The CCR was 71, the field was 210 and Matt King went home with a lot more money than he came with after winning the member’s draw.

The guzzler’s mug will finish very bad after Neil Hudson will have it filled with VB courtesy of “fill it up please”.

The event on Saturday is a single stableford. Sponsors for the day are Adam and Rob Holster, Painting Contractors.
