IN the top of the table clash between A Grade Wauchope Warriors and Port City in perfect conditions on Saturday afternoon, it was the Warriors who executed the team plan skilfully to come out winners 3-1.
With goals to Rebecca Rogers, Bev Towle and Jess Galloway Port City were no match for the enthusiastic Warriors. Sue Leahy had a particularly strong game at centre half and in defence.
B Grade Wapiti played the late game against Crescent Head on Wednesday night. Crescent Head jumped out to score 2 quick goals before Wapiti were able to regroup.
Brooke Brazier replied with a firmly hit shot off a short corner to make it 2-1 at half time. In the second half Robyn Gilmore scored and Sharon Griffiths found the goals after some good switches of play and a pass from the sideline.
The final score was a hard earned 3-3 draw. Courtney Krahe and Lisa Saley played well for Wapiti.
On a cool and clear Saturday night, B Grade Winunga played the late game against Rovers. Play was fairly even for the first ten minutes when Rovers struck their first goal. They followed it up with a goal from a stroke then quickly scored again with crisp passing and finishing to make it 3-0 at half time.
Winunga had some good pushes forward in the second half but conceded a goal late in the game to a short corner and another from a high deflected ball to make the final score 5-0 to Rovers. Karen Mason was strong and creative at right half for Winunga and Karen Gill worked hard in the forward line.
Wauchope Men’s game against Tacking Pt Thunder was deferred.
