WAUCHOPE’S Brodie White was triumphant in defending his brother Jack’s 2007 Under 13 ski crown at the Queensland State Titles at Grafton on the weekend.
Brodie’s main mission for the weekend was not to allow the title to escape the White family.
The title race was the first event of the weekend for the Wauchope-based Per4ma ski team.
The support crew, including mum Penny and sister Georgia, were overwhelmed when Brodie crossed the finish line to win the event – at times reaching speeds of up to 120 kilometres per hour.
With the win tucked safely under their collective belt, the White family did not have much time to celebrate with Jack lining up for the next race of the day, the 60mph social men’s race.
Jack skied very well to record a third placing despite the conditions becoming progressively rougher and combined with 14 other competing boats all circulating on the course.
Unfortunately Jack's 2nd race, the under 16 boys, saw their boat withdraw with minor mechanical problems.
All hands pulled together to repair the boat for day two of racing.
Both Jack and Brodie lined up head to head with another eight competitors for the 60mph expert class. Jack skied with Grafton boat Nice n Easy and led from the start for the first half until falling on the crowded turn buoy. Jack then recovered to finish 5th with Brodie finishing one place behind him.
The Per4ma Ski Team would like to thank all 2007 sponsors for their help throughout the season. Brodie & Jack would also like to thank the Mayors Sporting Fund for their continued support. The White boys will continue to train for the next season of Ski Racing.
