Jim Bain returns best score

A FINE sunny day welcomed a good field of 132 starters, to contest Wauchope Men’s Veterans Golf Club’s single stroke and bi monthly medal, at the Wauchope Country Club, last Tuesday (24th June).

Muddles Farm Centre were proud sponsors of the day’s event.

The A grade monthly medal winner was Jim Bain (12 handicap), with a great net score of 65. Runner up was Allan Lynch (13) with 67 net. In third place was Dennis Morton with a score of 68 net.

Bruce Amey (19) was the winner in B grade, on a count back, from runner up Chris Kemp (22), with both men scoring 68 net. In third place, also on a count back, was Max Livingstone (23) with a score of 69 net.

C grade winner was Barry Bratt (26), on a count back, from runner up John Willis (29), with both men scoring 71 net. In third place with a score of 72 net was Austin Grice (32).

Nearest to the pin winners were: 4th hole, A Grade, Allan White (2.68m), B Grade Les Cook (5.45m) C Grade, Bill Headon (3.80m). 18th hole, A Grade Brian Long (vis) (5.75m), B Grade Bill Brown (2.60m). C Grade Max Graham (8.05m).

Our “nearer of the nearest to the pin winners” was Bill Brown.

Balls were awarded to competitors with scores down to 74, on a count back, in A Grade, 75 on a count back in B Grade and 76, on a count back in C grade.

The CCR was 71.

Another beautiful day greeted 58 starters for Thursday’s (26th June) nine stableford event.

The winner was Stuart Murrell, on a count back, from runner up Ken Gallie and third placed Frank Hay with all three scoring 20 points.

Nearest to the pin winner was Keith Budrodeen (4.47m).

Balls were awarded to scores down to 17 points.

Ball winners were: On 19 points; Ray Wheeler, Ian Bain, Bruce White, John Schubert and Bob Kennedy. On 18 Points; Barry Bratt, Graham Ward, Peter Kime and Graeme Stanton. On 17 Points; Paul Hassab, Peter Hopkinson, John Beresford, Les Derby, Geoff Collins, Ron Dixon, Tony Scriven, Reg Haire and David Cairns.
