Centenary medal: Wauchope’s Vince O’Brien was awarded the Centenary of Rugby league Medal at a function held in Coffs Harbour last week. Country Rugby League president, Warren Kimberley presented O’Brien the prestigious medal.
Wauchope Junior Rugby League Club were justly proud of their exceptional, stalwart Vince O’Brien when he was bestowed the honour of the Centenary of Rugby League Medal at the BCU stadium, Coffs Harbour on Wednesday night, May 28.
Warren Kimberley, President of Country Rugby League presented the medal to Vince citing his contribution to Rugby League in all facets of the game, as a player, coach, selector, coaching director, regional representative, administrator, senior and junior development and promoter.
Vince has held his passion for footy for almost five decades and is the only recipient of the medal in Group 3.
Wauchope was not only represented by Vince in the Centenary celebrations: Former Australian Schoolboys Champion and International Player Ian Schubert was amongst the Rugby League legends to be presented to the crowds.
Peter Ninness, Rocky and Mark Laurie were also invited to attend the celebrations as former players of the NRL.
